What happens during your treatment – At MP Skin Aesthetics we work hard to ensure you have all the information you need to help you make a decision and feel comfortable with the skin needling process and your individual treatment plan.
Your Clinician will discuss with you your goals and assess your treatment needs. This process enables your Clinician to tailor the treatment to your specific skin condition needs and target the areas for treatment.
Skin Needling Procedure:
Step 1: Skin numbing and cleaning – Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your treatment. This will allow additional time for skin cleansing and application of a skin numbing agent.
Step 2: SkinPen® Preparation – Your skin clinician will attach your sterile, single-use needle cartridge to the SkinPen® and determine the length of the micro-needle for your procedure.
Step 3: Skin Needling – Once connected, the sterile tip of the SkinPen® needle cartridge is moved across the surface of the skin to perform the needling. Some clients may experience a small amount of discomfort during the procedure alongside a small amount of pinpoint bleeding.
Step 4: Post treatment – Apply after care skin product – Immediately after your procedure, post treatment care products will be applied to your skin and a post treatment care plan will be outlined.
Step 5: Results – Most patients experience 12-24 hours redness followed by 2-4 days slightly flaky skin. Best results occur at the two week mark when the full treatment reveals more radiant skin as the deeper skin continues its healing process delivering more youthful and healthy-looking skin.

There is minimal post-procedure reddening of the skin, which usually dissipates within 24 hours, followed by 2-4 days of dry, slightly flaky skin.
Most patients experience little or no discomfort during and after the treatment.
When performed correctly by a trained clinician, there is little risk of any side-effects.
Post-treatment, your skin will look as though it is sunburnt. How long the redness will last depends on the individual. Most clients see a reduction in erythema after 24 to 48 hours post-treatment. Some dryness may also be present, which is entirely normal.
