For a clearer and brighter complexion we offer a range of acne treatments, including:
If your oil producing glands are overactive and produce more oil than necessary, this can mix with dead skin cells in your pores, causing them to clog. This leads to the appearance of blackheads.
In this environment bacteria may grow and cause inflammation leading to red spots, pustules, whiteheads, nodules and cysts.
When the inflammation is too great for the skin to cope with, this leads to scarring.
Pimples, zits and spots impact around 85% of teens and young adults.
Several different factors can affect the appearance of acne including age, puberty, hormone levels, blocked pores and skin type.
Fortunately, there are some very effective treatments that may help you have smoother, clearer looking skin.
There are three main types of Acne:
1. Mild acne (non-inflammatory acne) – This includes blackheads and whiteheads. It’s generally contained to small areas of your face or body and occasionally progresses to moderate acne.
2. Moderate acne (inflammatory acne) – Breakouts called papules (tender lumps under your skin) or pustules (papules with visible heads of pus) occur. Moderate acne may last for extended periods and can cause scarring or progress to cystic acne if untreated.
3. Cystic/severe acne (inflammatory acne) – Severe acne presents as painful cysts or nodules that form under your skin and may look like boils. This type of acne has a high risk of scarring. It’s much easier to treat acne than it is to treat scarring.
There are a range of acne treatments options available which may improve and soften the appearance of your skin. For best results, a combination of treatments may be required.
At MP Skin Aesthetics there are various ways we can help treat acne including:
Laser Genesis – Laser Genesis treatment is incredibly safe. Over time the controlled thermal laser rejuvenates the targeted skin, without harming the surrounding areas.
LED Light Therapy – Is pain-free, non-invasive, soothing and rejuvenating skin treatment. LED, or light-emitting diode therapy uses varying wavelengths of light to help regenerate the skin and increase the healing process. It also has antibacterial properties.
Microdermabrasion – Microdermabrasion uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it. The process stimulates new collagen cell growth, whilst a soft vacuum removes any dead skin cells and unplugs any blocked pores from the top layer of your skin.
Chemical Peels – A Chemical Peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers of the skin to reveal the fresh, new skin layers.
The degree of improvement is dependent on the acne severity, skin type, skin colour, treatment frequency and your individual desired results. Each case presents as a unique situation for the specialist Clinician. Treatments are tailored to each individual’s goals, tolerances, acne severity and skin type.
